Avoiding the usual outsourcing's pitfalls - outsourcing-pitfalls.com

Some companies are so concerned about lowing costs on software development that rush in new for them IT outsourcing business without proper consideration and eventually they are not ready to face outsourcing's pitfalls. Yet there are some pitfalls that businesses need to be aware to avoid outsourcing disasters.

Many risks can be reduced even upfront the Custom Software Project starts. Outsourcing pitfalls can be avoided by negotiating deals between companies. The terms of a Software Development contract should cover situation of Custom Software Project failure and penalties shall be stated to be imposed in order to compensate customer's losses.

Other problems can be caused different country's regulations and laws, its political stability and even language barrier. Such territorial risks can be reduced in the process of choice of Software Development vendor when as more information concerning this area and the company itself as possible should be thorough studied.

John Nayman, Alex Development Corp. specialist, "Checking Software Development provider's process firm, Software Product development approach, quality assurance and testing procedures as well as implementation, acceptance and deployment plans is very useful. In firms with Cmmi or ISO certification the risk of this group are much lower than in firms without certificates. But still, they say 'Trust but check you must'. The average estimated cost-saving from offshoring is only 10-15%. Early in the 1st year or two, and may rise up to 30-40% after three years when process becomes well-established". So risks should be considered from the first steps before venturing in this new sphere.

Revolution in Pain Management

Recover Discover Healthcare has been at the forefront of the Medical Tourism industry since 2005. It is one of the few companies in this field that is incorporated in Canada as well as India. Recover Discover is a part of the Phistream group of companies that has interests in software, BPO, Legal Outsourcing, and Healthcare.

At Recover Discover, it has always been an endeavour to offer the latest treatments in the medical world to its international clients. After launching an affiliation with a world class cosmetic surgery facility in France, Recover Discover has affiliated with a Pain Management Facility in New Delhi, India, which offers Ozone Therapy - a non-surgical alternative for treating spinal problems.

Ozonucleolysis or Ozone Therapy for herniated disc is a revolutionary non-surgical alternative for treating disc herniation. In this therapy a highly beneficial molecule, Ozone (O3), is injected inside the intervertebral disk in trouble. The injection is administered under local anesthesia supplemented with intravenous sedation under real time digital radiological control that ensures proper placement of Ozone in the center of the diseased disc.

The treatment has benefited thousands of patients world over. In our experience, over 86% patients treated with Ozone therapy recovered from their pain coming from disc prolapse, also called slipped disc. From this procedure, a major open operation on the spine is avoided.

When used for disc prolapse, also called slipped disc, Ozone therapy acts in multiple ways:

* Direct effect

o Disc contains 80% water that is contained within its building blocks comprising of core protein (cartilage & collagen).
When injected in the disc, Ozone quickly dissolves in the disc water. This results in shrinkage of the disc prolapse with a net reduction disc pressure.

* Cell mediated anti-inflammatory response:

o Ozone reduces the production of pain causing substances that are produced by a diseased or injured disc.
o It sets off production of antioxidant enzyme system that works on injured tissues that have been subject to long standing oxygen injury.
o Release of chemicals that oppose inflammation and indirectly relieve pain.

* Local anesthetic effect:

o Injection of needle and subsequent injection of ozone stimulates release of chemicals like naturally occurring endorphin from ones body that relieves pain.

The treatment of back pain and specifically herniated disc by Ozone therapy has met with enthusiasm due of its non-invasive nature, lack of major complications and excellent results when compared to other methods. Ozone therapy has now made it possible for people suffering from herniated disc to safely escape the surgeon's knife and get rid of that pain with the simple prick of a needle.

In the US back pain effects nearly 62 percent of the population with nearly 520000 back injuries being reported every year.

According to our Ozonucleolysis expert " In case of surgery chances of recurrence of pain is nearly 15% against 3% in case of ozone treatment."
The therapy, having gained acceptance the world over, has the potential to establish itself as the gold standard in pain management techniques.

Commercial Properties to Soar in Jaipur

IT companies likely to spur demand in near term...

While property prices in cities of Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida float at unprecedented levels--the tourist attraction of Jaipur--has been coming up as a potential destination for real estate developers and investors.

Especially, the segment of commercial real estate in Jaipur is quite upbeat for the past one year and a number of business conglomerates are making a beeline to set up their offices in the city, famous as pink city of India, says Anurag Sharma of New Age Consultancy.

In fact, some of the biggest corporate houses have already forayed in this capital city of Rajasthan, with their ambitious projects. Recently, international steel baron LN Mittal announced to establish a technology institute in the city, spread in more than 100 acre. Healthcare majors like Apollo and Escorts, at other end, have also expressed interest in setting up their ultra-modern facilities in Jaipur.

Growth drivers

The biggest advantage that Jaipur Properties offer is that of "cost". Definitely, the capital prices and rentals of commercial properties in Jaipur are far less in comparison with the cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. Thus, a business organization can substantially cut down its costs by operating from Jaipur.

Secondly, the city boasts of an impressive connectivity via all the modes of roads, railways and air, and is well-linked with nearly all the major cities of India. Take the instance of its international airport, the only one in Rajasthan.

Furthermore the availability of land is not an issue in Jaipur, and unlike the big cities, a firm can acquire large chunks of land in the prime locations to build their offices. Owing to these reasons, it makes a sound business proposition for companies to operate from this city. Nevertheless, a lot of companies have identified these advantages and trying to capitalize on the same.

The IT hopes

According to Knight and Frank, a consultancy firm, sufficient availability of land is something that can convert Jaipur into next IT destination of India. Meanwhile, BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) major Genpact has already established a huge facility in the city and mammoths like Infosys and Wipro have also expressed their interest in establishing their offices in Jaipur.

Nonetheless, Delhi-based Vatika group is developing a huge 800-acre infotech city in Jaipur, while the Rajasthan government has also started offering land to IT companies, on subsidized rates.

With this, commercial properties in Jaipur are likely to undergo a boom time as more and more business houses come to the city, professionals from the real estate industry of Jaipur say.

Where to Outsource: A Guide to the Best Outsourcing Destinations

Offshore outsourcing is the practice of hiring an external organization to perform some business functions in a country other than the one where the product or service will be sold or consumed.

Outsourcing has increased at a rapid pace due to the advancement in modern satellite and Internet technologies, better connectivity and a constant search for less expensive labor to cut costs and achieve competitive advantage. By outsourcing their back office business processes to less expensive nations like China, India, Philippines, Malaysia, companies can cut labor costs, concentrate on their core businesses and strengths, and ensure better customer satisfaction. According to a recent report, US firms have saved nearly US$8 billion through outsourcing to developing nations like the Philippines There are many developing nations that act as offshore outsourcing destinations to developed nations. Some of the countries that can be considered as offshore outsourcing destinations are as follows:

Philippines

The Philippines' key competitive advantage is its people. Philippines has a well-educated English speaking work force and stands out as the world's third largest English speaking nation. The attitude, commitment, community, and education constitute the key competitive advantage especially in the front office operations such as customer service and sales.

The Philippines boasts of a huge pool of productive, trainable and multi-skilled labor force. Filipino Outsourcing companies such as AOV Outsourcing service only hire workers that are highly qualified for various outsourcing tasks.

Government support and the IT infrastructure is a given. Major companies that already operate in the Philippines include AIG, AOL, Barnes & Noble, Chevron, Citigroup, Dell, HP, HSBC, IBM, Intel, JPMorgan Chase, Motorola, Procter & Gamble, Siemens AG and Trend Micro.

China

In recent years, China is rapidly emerging as one of the world's leading suppliers of offshore software outsourcing services due to its incredible development rate. Although India is at the moments the world leader in software outsourcing industry, China aims to outpace India and become the next dominant competitor in software outsourcing. It is predicted that China will emerge as one of the top three countries for overseas software outsourcing between 2007 and 2010. Companies are already beginning to plan their offshore outsourcing strategies to take advantage of China's emerging strength as an outsourcing center. This includes looking for ways to take advantage of the country's current software strengths. Some estimates state that China outsourcing could rival India as the leading offshore IT services market as early as 2007.

The recent flurry of activity that helped put China on the outsourcing map came about partly as a result of government support and promotion, partly because of Japan's push to move much of its software development work to China, and partly because a number of large foreign companies -- GE, Microsoft, Dell, SAP and HP, for example -- started up R&D centers in China.

India

One of the major players in the offshore outsourcing industry, India has a well educated, talented, low cost and English speaking workforce, excellent IT and networking infrastructure, a fairly stable political scenario, friendly laws and well laid taxes and quality certified software firms. The offshore outsourcing market in India is ever growing and has produced many success stories making India a popular offshore outsourcing destination for IT related and other BPO services.

Offshore assignments have moved up the value chain - from data entry to large and complex turnkey projects of 200 to 300 person years. Almost any service can be outsourced to India, be it healthcare, engineering or KPO.

Malaysia

Malaysia's well-developed infrastructure, attractive business environment and strong government support makes it a rising alternative to India and China. The government's positioning of Malaysia as a hub for services and technology innovation has resulted in a number of multinationals locating some of its global or regional operations in Malaysia. Malaysia has a relatively more stable political climate backed by consistent economic growth which makes it attractive for sensitive, high end applications in banking and finance.

Procurement offshoring is next big wave

After BPO and KPO, now it's PO or Procurement Outsourcing that's catching up in India. It began way back in 1995, with the Thames WaterAccenture contract but lost steam somewhere along the way. But now, PO is emerging as another arm in India's successful outsourcing story.

IDC estimates the worldwide PO market reached $627 million in 2005, and is expected to expand at 22.3% (cumulative growth rate) to become $1.7 billion by 2010.

With such high growth rates, Indian players are gearing up to take a larger share in the pie. Although still at a nascent stage, experts predict PO is slated to emerge as India's next big outsourcing story. "India's potential to emerge as the favorite destination is not because of labour arbitrage alone. It's due to its highly skilled English speaking labour pool, engineering skills, value enhancement through low-cost country sourcing, competitive advantage, process and quality focus," says Rakesh Mittal, COO and president of Corbus a prominent global PO player.

PO spans a spectrum of procurement related processes like requisitioning of goods, vendor management, invoice processing, order managers, procurement planners, catalogue development roles, supplier development as well as supply coordination in low cost countries.

The Rising Tiger in Outsourcing - The Philippine Business Process Success Story

The Philippines, has over the last few years, bloomed as a key player in the global offshore outsourcing market. The Philippines has been undergoing a Business Process Outsourcing boom which is due primarily to the demand for offshore web staffing, customer contact services, finance and accounting, human resources and call centers.

The outsourcing industry is considered one of the world'fastest growing industries and International investment consultancy firm McKinsey & Co. predicts the demand for outsourcing suppliers will reach $170 billion by 2010. Many companies outsourcing are more and more considering the effectiveness of skills and not just cost savings in their decision making which means with The Philippines offerings it is now emerging as a global leader in the BPO industry.

In particular, The Philippines has become a global hub for corporate backroom operations such as financial services including accounting and bookkeeping, accounts receivable collection, account maintenance, inventory control and purchasing, payroll processing, financial analysis, management consulting, expense reporting, financial reporting, tax reporting, credit card administration, factoring, stock brokering, financial leasing, cargo shipment management and logistics management. into these

In order to gain this rapid growth The Philippine government has offered significant incentives in order to attract direct foreign investment into the country specifically in the BPO sector.

The vast majority of the BPO facilities are located in the central part of Metro Manila as well as Cebu City although other regional areas within the country are starting their own thriving centres.

Many international companies already have outsourcing operations in The Philippines including Accenture, Convergys, Siemens, NEC Telecom, Caltex, Fujitsu, Alitalia, Unisys, IBM, Intel, Procter & Gamble, AOL, Barnes & Noble, Chevron, Citigroup, Dell, HP, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase and Motorola,

Usually the key players (vendors) are co-owned and managed by expats combined with local managers.

Over the 2006-2007 financial year the Philippines has earned over $2 billion from offshore outsourcing service provision which makes it the 3rd largest supplier behind India and China. And for good reason, The Philippines has a low cost of wages is one of the main reasons for this trend. The Philippines has the 2nd lowest hourly wage for outsourcing professionals and 95% of the citizens speak fluent English.

It is clear that the Philippines is positioned to become a key player in the South East Asian Business Process Outsourcing industry. This outsourcing sector will keep on track to become a primary part of the Philippine economy as more and more Filipinos youth move into the game. Currently the Philippine BPO industry is forecasted to earn US$10 billion and be employing appriximately 1,000,000 people by the year 2010

Do Lenders Really Mistreat Foreclosure Victims?

The question of whether lenders mistreat foreclosure victims has two sides and both are based on historical fact. The lenders' side is homeowners are financially irresponsible and are breaking a legal contract with the lender. The homeowners' perception of the foreclosure is that the lender is unresponsive to their need for help and wants to steal their home. Ironically, any or all of these accusations can be true at the same time.

The lender makes money from a couple of sources when they give mortgages or deeds of trust to homeowners to finance a home purchase. The most obvious is the interest charged on the loan. The lender makes the difference between the borrowed cost of money and the final interest rate charged the homeowner. Lenders borrow money from its savings account holders and the Federal Reserve. The lenders also make money from the closing points charged the borrower, which can be equivalent to many monthly mortgage payments. Since the average homeowner owns a home for about five years, the lenders get these closing costs (points) over and over from the same borrower. Other income comes from the sale of the lender's foreclosed properties called REO's (Real Estate Owned). Yes, banks can and do make money on foreclosures. It is not a calculated part of their income stream but it does happen particularly when the lender plans it by taking equity-rich properties back from homeowners.

The homeowners' perception may also be correct because the lender is often unresponsive or not supportive because it is one of tens of thousands the lender has to deal with at any given time. The lender's loan mitigation officer may have hundreds of files working at one time and is often unreceptive to calls from homeowners. A very few lenders have developed departments with field personnel to visit the homeowners and show them solutions. The lender gets an appraisal or BPO (Broker's Price Opinion) as soon as the loan is delinquent by a few weeks. This estimated fair market value of their home is used to determine whether the lender can get the remaining loan balance back from the sale of the property. This estimated resale value has to affect how the borrower will be treated, either with an aggressive attitude to get the property back and get the home's equity by offering a "Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure", or with a different legal approach to have the homeowner keep the problem property.

Lenders use strictly a financial determination to resolve the problem of the foreclosure because it is in their best interests. This cut-and-dry decision often results in the homeowner getting minimal help from the lender. Homeowners can simultaneously be correct in their perceptions because the lender may want their property for its equity and homeowners only see that the loss mitigation representative is unresponsive to their phone calls. The best solution is for the homeowner to steer the foreclosure process and understand his rights without possible biased help from the lender.

Using a "Deed in Lieu of" to Stop a Foreclosure

Recently lenders have been taking deeds in lieu of foreclosure from homeowners to resolve foreclosures. The lender simply accepts a deed in exchange for forgiving the homeowner of his mortgage or deed of trust loan.

Let's look more closely and see the ramifications of this legal transaction. It usually starts after the homeowner has fallen behind on his loan payments and is considering foreclosure, or he has already been served with a "default notice". Time is against the homeowner because the lender will or already has started foreclosure proceedings. The homeowner is being bombarded by outside information sources because his foreclosure has become a part of the public record or he is getting information from well-meaning but uninformed people.

As soon as the homeowner notifies the lender of his impending problem or his loan is delinquent, the lender orders an appraisal or BPO (Broker's Price Opinion) to determine its market value. The lender now knows if he can make money on the property if he takes it back at a foreclosure auction. The lender's decision will be strictly financially motivated from this point forward. The risk of taking the property by foreclosure includes the higher legal costs, an extended loss of interest on the loan, real estate market risk, realtors®' commissions, and any other open liens on the property that can't be extinguished at the auction. The lender now factors in the minimal cost and shorter time required to get the home by taking a deed from the homeowner but in lieu of continuing the foreclosure. If the appraisal comes back with a value of 80% or less of the loan balance due, the lender would be irresponsible to take the deed and would continue the foreclosure. The other determining factor is whether there are other liens against the property such as a second mortgage or mechanics liens. Sometimes these liens can be larger than the first mortgage and the lender will not accept the property with these liens still attached to it.

If the lender agrees to accept a deed in lieu of foreclosure, it is not completely over for the homeowner. The lender will submit an Acceptance Agreement that the homeowner must sign as well as a new deed. The terms of this agreement may stipulate that if the lender sells or transfers the property for less than what is owed on the loan (including all penalties, interest, and attorneys' fees), the guarantor of the loan will owe the lender this difference. This deficiency amount can then be granted by the courts as a deficiency judgment against the loan guarantor.

So is the "Deed in Lieu of" an ideal solution for a homeowner in foreclosure? Not unless the terms of the Acceptance Agreement release the guarantor from future liability (deficiency judgment). Another option is to sell the property at a break-even point and repay the loan then his credit report won't be negatively impacted by the lender's reporting a loan write-off as with the deed exchange.

Business Process Outsourcing

Business process outsourcing(BPO) is contracting business functions, such as accounting, product listing, and advertisements(to name only a few) with a third party service provider. For internet based businesses it may come in the form of web design, call centers, and search engine optimization. Think of it as Company A hiring the services of Company B. Company B takes care of most of the work, and frees Company A to have more time to engage in more important business matters, such as management. BPO may save considerable time and effort, and it may be cheaper to do so. This may be possible due to the differing pay rates across countries. For example, the pay rate in India, or China, for that matter, can go considerably low that it would be more practical to hire Indian or Chinese workers than American workers. There are many sites easily accessible on the internet that provide these services, and certainly, this is an option to be considered in setting up your business.

Canada eyeing offshore market

With the quantity of jobs heading for Indian shores, the Indian companies on these shores are heading for other shores as well in the name of globalization. The next popular frontier: Canada.

Canada is coming in the preferences for a number of American based companies. The Canadian cities namely Vancouver and Toronto are getting popular for outsourcing work. But this does not mean that Canada will become next India for the American based software companies outsourcing work. Still, Canada is becoming an attractive option for many American software developers eyeing for their future outsourcing strategies.

According to a new report released on Tuesday by SD Forum and Luxoft, a Russia based outsourcing firm from the 200 plus U.S. based independent software developers that took part in the survey, 94 percent say that they are outsourcing project work, either domestically, offshore, or near shore, or in some combination of all three.

India is the leading offshore destination of various American based companies outsourcing, followed by Singapore, Russia, and China. Due to BPO's vital nature, US clients seek to have these done closer to home, or "near shore". Canada offers quite a near fit with its constancy, geographical proximity, and cultural similarities.

However, Canadian cities, including Vancouver and Toronto, win out over India for future outsourcing strategies by American independent software vendors, particularly among those that use a mix of offshore, domestic, and near shore work.

Companies with Indian roots stand to gain from this trend since it functions on a flawless worldwide delivery model customized to customers' risk preferences. Such a global outsourcing model can have work distributed between Canadian and Indian operations - the design and project management in Canada, and second-tier jobs in India.

SHORT SALE RICHES

I have done many short sale in the past 15 years and have faced rejection from lenders and homeowners 20-30% of the time. Does rejection bother me? Not in the least and I love it, since It provides more information so that I can improve my negotiation skills As with any sales tactic, I am playing a numbers game and there is no game better than the short sale game which can make you wealthy beyond your dreams.

Most agents, investors or even lenders do not know how a short sale works or how to negotiate a short sale successfully There are no seminars, Gurus or get rich quick schemes in the short sale industry and do not let anyone fool you. Short sale transactions are learned with experience and there in no one way of doing it. Each short transaction is a separate animal on its own with separate investors and numbers. There are very few investors who truly know how to successfully negotiate a short sale. Most investors have the perception that all that is necessary is to submit an offer and wait for the bank to give you an answer. If all goes well the offer will be accepted but in many cases it's not that simple. That's why a strategic plan is necessary before you even begin a short sale. You must set up a plan to persuading the lender to agree with your offer.

There are 2 key steps that will ensure success when negotiating a short sale with lenders:

1st. Evaluate all the numbers that the owner give you, such as the total amount of the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd trust deeds and determine if you indeed have a short sale opportunity on your hands. Obviously, if the total balance of all liens is greater that the "as is market value" of the property than you may have a candidate. The next step would be to qualify the homeowner to determine if they are truly in financial hardship and most homeowners are, especially if they are behind on their payments.. Many rookie investors are under the misconception that every homeowner facing foreclosure is a good short sale candidate. Not all deals are good short sale opportunities. You must know the difference between a good and a bad deal.

2nd Don't take no for an answer. If the lender says no you must ask yourself why? Lenders do not make decisions based on emotion, unlike most homeowners, their only concern is to negotiate and get the highest price on their investment and trust me, they will say no to offers dozens of times. When the end approaches and the property is scheduled to sale at auction, they may very well say yes to your offer. I personally expect to get a no on my first offer and second counteroffer before we get down to the real serious numbers in purchasing any given property.

Here is an deal which I recently purchased that I would like to share with you, the property was located in Los Angeles:

I got a call from an owner in distress on one of my advertisements. This owner was behind 3 months and a notice of default had already been filed. He had a 1st loan amount of $585,000 and 2nd loan amount of $95,000 the property was worth $620,000 in it's as is condition. I immediately had him sign an "authorization to release" and contacted the 1st lender within 2 days and asked them to send a short sale package, which they did. Long story short, my initial offer for the 1st and 2nd combined since one lender held both was $480,000. They send out their broker for a BPO or "brokers price opinion" which came in at $600,000 they countered me $580,000 back and forth some more and the final purchase price was negotiated to $495,000. I sold the property within 30 days for $605,000 netting $580,000 after commissions and closing costs. Net profit from this one deal was $70,000. Not bad for 3 months work.

This would have never happened if I accepted no from the bank. I must have received a "no" several times from the loss mitigator but I knew that if I was persistent and aggressively polite they would reconsider. Remember, the next time you are putting together a short sale offer, be prepared and take control of the deal. Never take NO for an answer. Be proactive not reactive. Don't just submit offers without having a game plan. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the opportunity to make lots of money in an industry where great deals are hard to come by.

Business Process Outsourcing Company: Future Is Bright

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the "in thing". These days, almost every business is looking forward to get some of its tasks outsourced. For this, the businesses need to hire a business process outsourcing company. BPO is basically a company which offers various business process outsourcing services.

Although there are too many companies out there, every business process outsourcing company is not the same. This differentiation is because of the type of services provided, and the location of the company.

On the basis of the services provided, a BPO company can be of two types, namely, back office business process outsourcing company, and front office business process outsourcing company.

If the outsourcing company takes care of an internal task, such as payroll or hiring, then it is a back office outsourcing company. But, if the company takes care of an external task such as providing customer service or technical support, then it is front office business process outsourcing company.

Another factor of differentiation is the location of the business process outsourcing company. For instance, if a business process outsourcing company is located in a foreign country, then it is called an offshore outsourcing company.

If the company is located in the neighboring country, then it is called nearshore outsourcing company. The company that provides the outsourcing services, if located in the same country, is called an onshore outsourcing company.

When a business hires a business process outsourcing company, then it means the outsourcing company will be responsible for some of the tasks. The company has the authority and the duty to purchase and install the necessary things like, software, equipments. They also have to hire and manage proper manpower.

This helps the businesses to focus on their primary functions. It also helps them avoid spending any manpower, money and/or time on smaller, less important things. The best thing is that this small work is done by expert professionals hired by the outsourcing company.

It is easy for a business to locate a business process outsourcing company. Most of the biggest players in this sector are located in countries such as India, Philippines, South Africa, and China. The businesses can easily locate a company in these countries, and get their tasks done, with the help of cost effective techniques.

The industry is booming on an every day basis. The future is equally bright as more and more businesses are continuously looking for a business process outsourcing company. A factor behind this predicted boom is the many advantages offered in exchange of very less money. This makes a business process outsourcing company, a necessity for almost every business.

To conclude, a business process outsourcing company offers many advantages to the companies hiring it. It also provides a good business opportunity for the many starters.

Homeshoring Brings Legitimate Work-at-Home Jobs into American Homes

Imagine a commute that is just down the hallway, a few minutes from your favorite gourmet coffeepot and the Monday morning news. You plug in your headset to the phone, boot your computer, and begin taking calls for your client. After 30 minutes of call time, you move on to a scheduled break to tend to a few errands around the house. You get another cup of coffee, finish a few small household tasks, and return to your desk to begin taking calls again. Your schedule is flexible, and you can have all the breaks you need from the comfort of your own home. You're paid anywhere from $7.00 to $30.00 an hour, and you work not just the hours - but the minutes - that you choose.

Sound like another work from home scam? Or simply too good to be true? Think again. The rise of homeshoring employers has paved the way to legitimate work-from-home careers that allow flexibility for a whole new workforce - including work at home moms and dads, caretakers, military spouses, people with unique medical needs and the differently abled.

So, what is homeshoring, exactly?

Homeshoring, in its simplest form, is the use of home-based employees by businesses, big and small, to handle their call center functions effectively with the use of home-based workers. Homeshoring companies have made the decision to keep their call centers virtual - but within their own parameters, country and control.

Homeshoring moves jobs out of high-overhead call centers and into the homes of US workers, rather than out of the country. Homeshoring cuts costs, but not corners, when it comes to saving money and creating valuable contacts with customers.

So who hires home-based workers for their call centers? Homeshoring companies range from outsourcing partners (such as Convergys and LiveOps) to large corporations looking to save operating costs for their call center components. Companies such as JetBlue send their workers home and have an added benefit when weather problems force call overflows - they can call on their home-based workers to pick up the slack. Other companies outsource their calls to Business Process Outsourcing (BPO's) firms such as Alpine Access or LiveOps. Office Depot and Virginia Atlantic outsource their customer service needs to virtual agent call-center firms, which are often small or midsize businesses. The call centers then hire home-based workers or create independent contractor agreements. Some virtual call centers only hire home-based contractors with their own business set-up, so that their workers can operate under their own small corporations or LLC's.

Homeshoring also provides a flexible and adjustable workforce for companies that often are sent into chaos with call overflow. The flexibility work for employees, too. Often, a homeshoring agent can schedule work shifts in time periods as short as 15 minutes.

According to the Gartner group, 10% of all call centers in the US plan on employing home-based agents in the near future. There are currently 112,000 home-based agents in the U.S., according to IDC. By 2010, there 330,000 home-based workers are expected to be working in the US alone. Homeshoring is here to stay and is expected to become a standard practice for companies that need to find new ways to retain excellent employees at a fraction of the cost of maintaining a brick and mortar call center.

A search online can uncover dozens of companies that hire homeshoring workers, but the top homeshoring (and most competitive) employers are listed below:

Virtual Call Center Jobs: How Can You Become An At-home Customer Service Agent?

There's been a lot of buzz in the call center industry regarding the use of home-based call center agents. While a relatively new phenomenon, the use of US-based workers in geographically dispersed locations has allowed call centers to grow, and manage growth, while maintaining higher levels of customer satisfaction.

In fact, the use of at-home customer service agents has been hailed by many teleservices industry experts as the call center of the future. Virtual call centers now exist as a centralized location that simply hosts the call center phone lines, software, and equipment. Through technology, these "bases" connect home-based agents across the country to their employers and clients.

Virtual call centers are set for explosive growth, and they hire home-based workers for a variety of industries and clientele.

Finding Virtual Call Center Jobs

Companies such as JetBlue and Uhaul regularly hire reservation agents for their virtual call centers, however, there are also a large number of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm that now take up the slack for companies such as Drugstore.com. Alpine Access, Arise, West, and LiveOps are just a few of the companies that regularly hire home-based workers to outsource their client calls. The easiest way to find a virtual call center job is a strenuous search on Google, using the keywords "home based agents" or "At home agent."

Because legitimate work-from-home employment is highly competitive, employers often automate the initial application process to weed out ill-matched candidates.

The Virtual Call Center Application Process

Most virtual call center jobs have a three-tiered application process. First, there is an online application and skill assessment. Second, there is a "voice test". Third, there is an over-the-phone interview. These three essential components often include other not-as-obvious skill assessments, such as the use on online learning tools, chat communication, and email follow-ups.

The Virtual Call Center's Online Application

Since much of the online application screening automated, you will want to be as thorough and descriptive as possible when you apply. Many BPO firms call on new customer service agents when they need a worker with experience in a specific industry. If you have retail experience in more than one area, then it's important to mention which areas you have experience in. For example, if you have worked for both Wal-Mart and the Macy's perfume desk, you'll want to mention both of those areas on your application. There's a big difference between mentioning retail experience and mentioning big-box retail experience and upscale boutique experience.

The online application will also have a checklist for the equipment and technology you will need to use and acquire. Make sure that your computer and phone systems meet their needs (or that you have the money and/or resources to acquire these.)

The Virtual Call Center Voice Audition

Most virtual call centers require applicants to audition or the job by calling in to leave a message. Usually they will give you a few scripts to practice and then randomly select one for your voice test.

What are they looking for? It's a mixture of personality, voice tone, and friendliness. If you're nervous about a voice audition, it's helpful to actually call a friend or two and actually practice the script with them on the phone. When you call for your audition, make sure that there is absolutely no background noise or interference with your call. (Make sure you disable your call waiting when you call...) Speak slowly and clearly, and make sure you have an actual smile on your face - that's something your callers will always hear on the phone.

The Virtual Call Center Telephone Interview

When doing your interview, it's best to be alone in a very quiet part of your house - preferably the home office you plan to work out of. Background noise is one of the main reasons why many potential home workers do not get hired.

Most virtual call centers use telephone interviews that are either live or recorded and last between 10 and 20 minutes. It's natural to be nervous during this part of the process. This is where your personality should shine - and the best thing to remember your research, speak calmly and slowly, and be prepared for creative interview questions.

If a company is recruiting for an online drug store, they may ask you how you feel about weight loss products. If a client is a retail catalog, they may ask you specific questions about styles or brands. Make sure you've looked at their client list if available. Brush up on any industry experience that you may have highlighted in your resume, just in case they are screening for a similar client.

Once You've Been Screened: Sit Back, and Wait Patiently

The backlog for virtual call centers is tremendous - and it can usually take anywhere from a week to several months for them to call on you to work for a specific project. Don't fret - if you made it this far in the application process, they will be in touch when they need you. A few virtual call centers actually purposefully schedule their call backs a few weeks later to give you time to decide if the job is really for you. The next step will be making it through their training and certification. Just be professional, get back to them in a timely manner if they contact you, and prepare your home office for your new virtual call center career.

Investment in Pune

Investing in Pune for the medium-to-long term makes the most sense in today’s real estate scenario. For the perfect portfolio, one should concentrate on the more developing areas that still feature competitive rates. The safest and most potential laden investment opportunities in Pune today lie in its townships, as they provide highly saleable property with the right mix of basic amenities and add-ons. The hottest investment destinations in Pune for modest-to-medium budgets in Pune are currently Sopan Baugh, Wanowrie, Dhankawadi and Katraj. This applies equally to residential and retail/commercial investments. Anything from Hinjewadi towards Mumbai that is within commutable distance also makes big sense, say real estate experts. Properties from Hinjewadi towards Pune may make less sense from a modest-to-medium budget perspective.

Ever since the Maharashtra government announced plans for a Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) in 2002-03, the real estate sector here is witnessing brisk activity. According to Knight Frank, a number of locations around the proposed MIHAN project have seen high escalation in land and residential rates. A big plush for the state’s second capital is IT biggies’ mega investment plans. Satyam Infotech, GE, DLF, Shapoorji Pallonji, L&T, Infotech, Patni Computers and Microsoft have all taken up large tracts of land in the SEZ within the cargo hub, and this in turn will augment the residential demand in the region, says a Knight Frank report.

Demand for housing is mostly driven by employees in IT/ITES sectors and BPO professionals as well as those with insurance and banking businesses. According to a Knight Frank report, what Nagpur lacks now is dedicated office building for IT/ITES businesses, since the industry is at a nascent stage. The few IT companies in the city are located at the MIDC IT Park at Sadar and the IT Park at Parsodi. Developments existing in the CBD locations and those in Itwari, Gandhibagh, Ramdaspeth and Dharampeth have a mix of retail and office space. Insufficient demand as well as lack of good plot sizes has restricted new commercial. The Knight Frank report says the upcoming residential locations in Nagpur are Kamptee Road in the north-east, Khamla and Hingna Road in the south-west and Besa and Wardha Road in the south, which are home to a number of apartment complexes as well as stand-alone buildings.

Plan Your Wedding Meal Catering

Your wedding day is your "Day in the Sun". For years to come there will not be a day when you will look back fondly at your wedding day. Amazingly when you ask people about a specific wedding more often than not the comments about the wedding event often center around the meal - its quality and composition as well as presentation and serving personnel.

As such choosing the wedding caterer can make or break your wedding rollout. Choosing a proper wedding caterer can take one worry off your mind. Why not make life easy for yourself.

As in most cases word of mouth is often the best guide. Ask your friends and acquaintances- at which weddings which they attended was the food exceptional?

Ask why or why not? Check for consistency. Consistency can be everything. A specific caterer may have some exceptional meals - however if the end product at different wedding events is flaky - varies from exceptional to not so good then this is not a good thing. It may be well your wedding that takes the hit not the top end product.

Remember that you do not only have to focus on caterers who list themselves as "Wedding Caterers". Most caterers can do the job if equipped with the necessary kitchen space. Staff and transportation. Most caterers can do weddings so to speak. Use your best judgment - don't expect a minor operation that caters only sandwiches or pizza to be able to do your wedding.

The first step in order is to figure out and assess your catering budge before you begin to meet with your caterers. Have a resolved number of potential guests. Be careful - family demands can increase the number greatly. Have your wedding guests numbers negotiated with family members (i.e. parents) before meeting with the caterer.

This way you can divide your total dollar budget by the amount of guests - to get a dollar figure per guest or meal.

Just a tip - most caterers will generally prepare approx 10 extra meals for extra guests at banquets. Figure this number into your numbers and also potential cancellations. Remember that with proper wedding planning you are working some way in the future. Hence things can change and wedding guests may not be able to attend or even cancel.

The second step is to check with the venue where you will be holding the reception. As part of a booking deal some of these establishments may insist that you either use their facilities, most often in the case of a hotel, or they may even have their licensed or preferred caterers. It's always best to ask before signing the booking papers.

Next verbally call those caterers by phone or phone and email. Note how long the response took for a reply. This is itself can be very telling about the level of service that you may expect from the caterer. Explain your wishes, ask about the booking date and ask for general options.

If you like the responses and as well the general meal servings fall within both your choices and your chosen budget ask to meet with the caterer booking coordinator in person. It is best to ask about payment policies - is there a deposit required? , Is that deposit refundable within a reasonable time period of cancellation? , what will the servers wear and what duties will they be expected to perform or not perform? Are there are any other additional fees - such as corkage, or cabs home for the staff if the reception continues on past a certain hour?

Always involve the caterers in your meal choices. Remember it's their business - they will know their strengths and weaknesses much more than you do, in additional to practical logistics of food, food preparation and serving. It's your one wedding day. Take full advantage of their expertise in wedding catering.

Lastly before you make your decision and sign on the dotted line be sure to have sampled the food once and more than once if possible.
