Microsoft Xbox 360 Warranty: 3 Major Benefits

The action is intense. The gamers are embattled in a heated mission of Halo 3. Things are tense. There is sweat beading down the gamers head. And then it happens....the Xbox 360 three red lights of death appear. Hearts stop beating.

Panic sets in and there is a mad rush to save the Xbox 360 before all is lost. The first step entails unplugging the unit from an electrical outlet. Perhaps a few minutes of 'breathing' room is all that is needed to repair the problem.

Actually, the first step in heading off impending repairs can be taken at the time of purchase. Along with the payment of Xbox 360 ownership, users can take the extra step of purchasing a warranty.

Considering the importance of the Xbox 360 in a gaming life, the warranty seems like a logical step towards preventative maintenance.

The average Xbox 360 warranty remains in effect for the first 90 days of system ownership. There are two standard 90 day warranties available. One from the retail establishment where the gaming system is purchased and one from Microsoft, both are in effect for 90 days.

In an ideal world, all problems with the Xbox 360, including the dreaded Xbox 360 ring of red lights, would appear inside that 90 day window. As everyone knows, this simply is not the case in the real world.

The system could run perfect for 90 days and then fall apart on day 91. Therefore, the recommendation is to purchase a warranty that exceeds that initial 90 day period. Once the Xbox 360 ring of flashing lights occurs, along with other problems, repair costs quickly begin to add up.

The Xbox 360 call center details one year warranties for $29.95 and two years for $59.90. These can seem like pricey options but when compared to the costs of fixing a broken Xbox 360, warranties easily swoop in to save the day.
